1617' Long Highline on Castleton Tower in Moab Utah!!!!!! After hearing about the line rigged between Castleton and rectory I had to go out to Moab to see this thing for myself! I left town with Aaron Ares and headed there! Ive been training super hard lately and figured it could be a good opportunity for me to go play on a really big slackline! We drove about 8 hours out to the desert and hiked up to the base of the tower the next evening. The day passed by quickly as you have to hike up a few miles, and jug up 400 feet to get to the anchor. There was a line of people trying to attempt the line with very serious intentions of walking the entire length. (This was about an 1.5 hour commitment to cross this beast!) On lines this long, the best way to get back to the anchor is just to walk the entire thing, sliding on a line slide would tire you out very quickly because of the gnarly slope! So I respected their project and returned down the spire. It was so incredible to be at this line and witness the attempts! I watched several crossing by Theo Sanso and Guillaume Rolland- Just leave it to the french! They CRUSHED! Very inspiring to watch them walk this just absolutely ridiculously long, nasty, beautiful, saggy, epic, exposed highline!!! The line was so off level (maybe 85 feet?) not to mention the near 100 feet of sag- So walking near the anchors is pretty much like walking up a steep slope. Aaron and I woke up the next morning and sat to a nice breakfast in Moab and then headed out to the fruitbowl. At Castleton Tower I reunited with a slackline friend Anthony Boulay. Along with Anthony was Julien Desforges from SlacklineMontreal. They told me they would be rigging up some lines at the fruit bowl so we joined them for the day. When we arrived at the bowl we met another highliner named Pete Thompson. Together we rigged "Deans Line(140'ish) " and "Big-Melons"(190'). The 190 was rigged on Aero main and Tubular backup. Main line was barely tensioned. It was a very nice lightweight setup to walk across a great gap 500feet up. Check out the time lapse from the day below! We had a great day with Anthony, Julien and Pete but returned back home Sunday Night. Im home for the next 5 days but then returning out to Moab for GGBY and more desert shenanigans!!!!
